Our Mission

Our mission at Chakra Khan is to create a creative & welcoming space you’ll enjoy spending time in. While here, we’ll help you connect your physical, mental and emotional aspects through bodywork therapy, relaxation, and nutrition coaching. We encourage the use of these practices to maintain health, respond to stress, build immunity, facilitate mental and emotional processing, and aid relaxation.

A commitment to running a business that is kind to the environment—by making mindful choices about energy-efficient fixtures, incorporating re-used items into our office, using non-toxic, natural, and biodegradable cleaning products and organic massage creams and oils.

About Chakra Khan Massage and Asian Bodywork

bowl with love your body stickers

In July 2008, Jesse Haas and Julie Kesti created Chakra Khan as a beautiful and enjoyable healing environment where you can come to relax and revive. In 2011 we were fortunate to be joined by friend and skilled bodywork therapist Karen Townsend. Our goal is to help you reconnect with your body. We aim to help you feel better—more alive, more connected, more aware—and to find enjoyment in the process!

Transportation Motivation

We want you to move your body! Physical activity is not only important for your health, but it's important for your emotional and mental well being, your defense against disease and your future as an aging person. For every client that rides their bike, walks or somehow uses their body to get to their appointment, we will donate $1 to a local organization. One dollar may not sound like a lot, but imagine if every one of our clients chose to use their body to get around—together our efforts add up to a healthier MPLS! Be sure to let your practitioner know when you arrive!

Cool Stuff

I love my body

bumpersticker

I love my body! became the unofficial slogan for Chakra Khan somewhere along the way. I love my body! is about empowerment and celebration of the bodies we live in. Our bodies are amazing! "I love my body" is about self-respect. All of us, no matter what gender, age, size, height, shape, race, class, sexual orientation or culture should jump-for-joy at our fantastic body homes. We want this message shouted from the mountain tops! Remind yourself to be kind to yourself with one of our fun stickers from the CK shop—or email us and we'll tell you how to get one by mail.

The Chakra Khan shop!

We usually have a selection of fun items for sale in our lobby—check out our assortment the next time you visit. The "shop" is a nice stop in the Chakra Khan living room, where you are welcome to rest, enjoy some tea, and read or sit for a bit before you head back out into the world. We love it when people enjoy Chakra Khan!

Art and Community

From 2008-2011 we hosted a variety of artists at CK, with shows rotating throughout the year. (Check out our blog to read about past exhibiting artists.) In 2012, we’ve invited Emma Freeman to be our "artist in residence" so you can view her photography on our walls throughout the year. Read more about Emma at emmafreemanphotography.com.

Please stay tuned to our blog or follow us on facebook or twitter to find out about our community and arts events.
